Appearance:
Yuuko is a tall busty Japanese woman with long lanky limbs an a thin waist. Her hair is ebony and really long . The colour of her eyes varies from orange to red from an illustration to another. She is graceful and has style, always wearing complicated elegant clothes with flowers or butterflies patterns. Her skin is really pale.

Personality:
Yuuko’s personality is complicated and differs depending on the person she’s facing. She can be kind and caring with certain people and totally childish with others . She can also be really cold (ex : toward the woman who used the monkey paw or the ghost girl.). She worries about the others but won’t pity people who don’t deserve it as what you get is the result of your own choices.

At first sight Yuuko can appear as a joyful person.
She adores making easily annoyed people yell like Watanuki or Kurogane. She loves drinking, eating and partying. Despite this she has regrets and her load of worries and sadness. She’s really concerned about Watanuki and about the TRC gang.

Yuuko’s a tad egoistic sometimes ; she would send poor Watanuki fetch a bottle of her favourite Sake in the middle of the night without any remorse. Or ask the already busy Trc group to do not forget about her white day present.

History: SPOILERS FOR XXX-Holic and Tsubasa though I won’t mess up with TRC’s story too much.

Before the events of TRC started, it seems like Yuukô , Clow Reed and Fei wong Reed were friends. Yuuko was about to die and Clow wished she didn’t. Clow though for a short instant that he wished that Yuuko opened her eyes once more but he was so powerful that it froze Yuuko’s time. FWR tried to grant Clow’s wish using his own power. Thus started TRC.

You can’t bring back someone from the dead and freezing time has it’s drawbacks; a distortion of Time and space had been created. Considering they were the source of too much trouble, Yuuko and Clow tried to repair their error. Yuuko spent her time in her shop, granting wishes and twisting destinies for the day the TRC cast would finally put an end to their mistake.

XXX-Holic begins with Kimihiro Watanuki, a teenager harassed by spirits stumbling into Yuuko’s shop. She ends up promising him she will grant his wish –not being bothered by the spirits anymore- if he starts to work for her.

Few weeks later some special visitors landed in her backyard : a princess who lost her memory her love interest and guardian, a ninja and a magician. Each of them wanted the power to travel through dimensions for different reasons. She granted their wish and kept in touch with them closely following their actions.

Along the manga we understand that Yuuko has a lot of affection for Watanuki and she slowly helps him to become aware of the importance of his own life.
I will take Yuuko from the end of the 13 rd volume of XXX-Holic.


Special Abilities:
Yuuko is a good judge of character and she understands the human nature very well. She often uses that skill to grant her customer’s wishes. She’s really wise and smart. She is a powerful witch but is quite rarely shown using her power and until now she never used them for herself in trc or Holic.
She can drink a lot without getting a hangover.

Worst Nightmare:
Everything goes black but Yuuko suddenly only wakes up only to discover that FWR granted Clow’s unfortunate wish. He broke the great Taboo and her time is flowing again. She’s alive but many lives have been sacrificed for her sake. Time and space have been modified, Kimihiro Watanuki, who never meant to exist from the start, simply vanished.

Other:
Yuuko never directly used magic to grant a wish and never granted materialistic wishes . When she grants a wish, she asks for compensation. She won’t be asking money from you (unless it represents something important for you) but she will ask you to sacrifice something more personal. You know, that cheap looking bracelet which doesn’t worth more than one euro but which was your grandma’s last present or whatever…
She’s been living in a world similar to ours. Yuuko know what internet is, has been watching anime and manga ( mokona and her quoted Tsukasa Hōjō’s Cats eyes and Toryama’s Dr Slump in Holic and TRC.)
